Week 10: Extreme Weather
Greece is known for having extreme weather which results into various risks. Some risks were due to snowfalls occurring that led to day long power outages. Other risks involve heat waves. These heat waves have caused wild fires that have spread so fast affecting homes and forests. Also due to the heat waves Greece was expected to see sea level rising due to the temperature and climate change intensifying water cycles which leads to intense rainfalls that are then associated with flooding in low lying areas.
In an article called “climate change report…” it states the following, Changes to the ocean, including warming, more frequent marine heatwaves, ocean acidification, and reduced oxygen levels have been clearly linked to human influence. These changes affect both ocean ecosystems and the people that rely on them, and they will continue throughout at least the rest of this century. A total of 234 scientists and 14,000 reports came together to create the report.” (Pg. 5.). Meaning that due to the affects climate change is having to the ocean it will result into reduced oxygen levels and will have an affect in both ocean and us humans ecosystems.
